The 3 Best FREE Weather Apps For Your Road Trip!

The 3 Best FREE Weather Apps!

1) The Weather Channel – Free

The Weather Channel has been THE weather app for many years. It offers a 15-day weather forecast that’s updated hourly, so you can stay up to date with

what is happening around you.  It also features an interactive radar map so that you can see exactly where the weather is. The home page features local forecasts for your location, breaking news, feels like temperatures and other weather related

information such as humidity and pressure, hourly and daily forecasts, radar, and videos. The app provides safety alerts, allergy advisories, and other health risks. This app is free for iOS and Android, but does contain ads. The app also includes social sharing features for users to upload images, tweets, videos and photos.

2) AccuWeather – Free

Accuweather App

AccuWeather is another free weather app that offers a simple and user-friendly interface for those who want a little more information, without becoming

overwhelmed. It has great maps, which show current and future weather patterns by using the slider. It provides hourly, daily, and 15-day forecasts which will also connect with your calendar. There is even a MinuteCast which give complete details minute by minute for a location up to two hours. There are over 3 million locations providing forecast data and there are alerts for incoming severe weather.

3) Storm Radar– Free

This was the app which I used most often on my 83 Day Trip Around North America.

The Storm Radar App has accurate, detailed, and advanced weather and storm

tracking data. I could pinpoint my exact location and watch not only the past and current weather, but I could also get an idea about what the forecast may hold in store for me, in the spot I was currently in. It has maps showing up to two hours of future forecasts for each location. This allowed me to plan and be prepared when dangerous weather was near.

It is owned and operated by The Weather Company, and it boasts forecasts for over 2 billion locations around the world, updated every 15 minutes.

Most importantly, it is crucial that you have some way to stay informed of the weather on a regular basis. Conditions can change quickly, potentially putting you and your loved ones in danger, and having the right tools at your fingertips could save your life, should a serious weather event be headed your way.

I depended upon my weather app while I was on the road. Most of the time I didn’t need it, but when I was surrounded by powerful thunderstorms and tornado watches, I could decide if my motorhome was the safest place for my and my girls to be, or make plans to find a safer location.

Make sure you have access to the weather, too!

I’m ashamed that I don’t have any of these apps! I must download the storm radar app because in our country, we go through a lot of storms year round.
