Moving Out (Anthony’s Song)

4 MORE DAYS!!!

The songs I’m posting for my top ten are in no particular order from my least favorite to most favorite or anything like that. They are just my favorites …. and I could have done a top 20 list of his songs, but the concert isn’t THAT far away!

I’m posting these favorite songs because I was given A Magical Gift recently.

Moving Out (Anthony’s Song)
I’ve talked so much about this album. If YOU want it, just click the picture above to purchase it for yourself!

Yep.. another song from “The Stranger.” I told you in A Magical Gift that this album spoke to me, and over 40 years later… it still does. Honestly, this song is just fun to sing along to! I think, without having known it at the time, one of the reasons I like Billy Joel’s music so much is that he is a story teller….. and I like to think that I am, too. Really, the song is also about why I did my 83 day trip. What is life really about anyway? What exactly are we working so hard for? Are we working so hard so that we can have the things that others deem important, or are we finding the things in life that truly matter to each of us as an individual and earning the money to have the freedom to DO those things? Yes, this song gets pretty deep! Ha! Well… I did something that was important to me. I recently threw caution to the wind, packed up my 32 foot motorhome, and drove it nearly 14,000 around the country with two young daughters for 83 days. I’ve learned all too well, you cannot take the money with you, so enjoy it responsibly while you can. If you are interested in learning more about the reason for my trip, you can read about the Big Plans I had for the trip, the plans I had before I set out on the road.

This song even inspired a Broadway musical in the style of a dance ballet. Different characters from his songs, Brenda and Eddie, James, Judy, and Anthony dance to tell their stories on stage without speaking any lines. The show even started a tour near my home in Wisconsin in 2008…… I had NO idea or I would have gone. Oh, well… hopefully YouTube will have some good videos of it so I can see what it was all about.

Today is Monday…. on Friday I drive to Chicago and see the band play. It will be only the fifth concert of my life (I don’t get out much), which is why it is even more of a big deal for me!
